'Would we be imposing?' 'Ya! U shud totally come!'
Hey. So GTFG KoRtni and I have had very different schedules as of late, and therefore our updates are seperate and different, but I'll do my best to cover us both. Here it goes.
GTFG KoRtni gave a talk on sunday. He colleague came. I've been to the National Portrait Gallery, the Natural History Museum, Camden Market, Little Venice, Regent's Park, etc. She's been to St. James's Park, clubbing, and honestly I don't know what else. We've both been to another dance. KoRt's made it to two. Umm... yeah. We see a lot of things. We just haven't been seeing them together lately. London is gigantic and fantastic. It's so beautiful and full of things to do. It's also too crowded. Especially since the weather is getting nicer. It's really hard not to spend all your money here. GTFG KoRtni's sister flew in on Monday. I wish I were playing with them. But I'm at work right now. I have 7 more days, and KoRt has even less. Sometimes we don't know if our time has been sufficient enough, other times it feels like we're never going to make it home. Atlas Potter is in the world, and I miss him dearly. I've never met him, but I miss him like death. And my mouth tastes like death, I need gum. Oh, and speaking of death... our Tomagatchis don't stay living long. We are negligent. I've booked all our hostels. I'm a little nervous about the language barriers, but we always manage. I don't really know how, but we always do. The other day I was realizing that I don't even notice the British accent anymore. It doesn't make my mind twirl when I see driver's on the wrong side. Public transport is routine. The mixed up E's and R's are casual. Umm.... KoRtni is friends with a 800 pound millionaire, and that's why she's favored so highly at work.
This blog is VERY scattered and deserves a whole lot of explanation, but I'm at work.
We are going to Les Mis tonight. We are going to Scotland this weekend.
We love hugs,
-GTFG Megan

evan is a baby. and so is sakka. whoever you are.
hey. urm... where to even begin?
I guess we should start with the most pressing news. KoRtni and I are no longer obsessed with Zac Effron. Shocking, right? In fact, he kind of disgusts us a little bit. I tore down all the posters I had on the wall. Well, not really tore them, cause I figured they'd make for some pretty awesome stationary. But yeah... Honestly, wow.
The sun has been shining in London, and we've had a whole new wave of fascination. I swear it's a different city. It's pretty crazy how fast you start taking things for granted. Like living right next to King Henry the VIII's castle. (I just realized how famous the castle was like two weeks ago. I think KoRtni thinks I should feel bad about that or something. But I don't. I just think it's SO cool.) But yeah, another reason why we might be loving London to the fullest once again, is realizing that we don't have much more time here. Everything seems to become more meaningful and important when you know you won't have it for too long.
We bought our plane tickets home. April 23rd. Mark your calendars. It feels SO good to have a day set. Not that we're homesick, or disliking our time here. But I think we both feel really very satisfied. And change is also always nice. We also bought a bunch of other plane tickets. And we, therefore, probably won't be writing much, if any, after the 6th of April, on account of traveling purposes. So, sorry folks.
Umm. We're pretty established here. Established to the point where I recognize most everyone on my walk to work, and KoRtni gets a hug every time she visits our local Tesco. Oh yeah, KoRtni basically converted a worker. I'll let her tell that story though. And I found my new favorite thing to do. It's called, taking pictures for tourists, so that everyone can be in the photo. It makes me very happy.
Oh my word. We've discovered lots of parks lately, and how absolutely huge and amazing they are. They are bird, monument, and tree sactuaries. The weather has been so very nice. We haven't even had to wear tights to church! But the one bad part about the good weather is precisely this... sometimes you see things that you just don't want to see. Like, sometimes you just look at people and think... 'why?' Especially in Cardiff. There were loads of clubs by Cardiff Bay, and the girls. Well, ew. Oh yeah, we went to Wales. It was incredible and very much needed. We also went to the crappiest tourist attraction in the world. It's the one that we earned the free tickets from. It was horrible. So horrible, that I'd give it 'the lamest spook alley in the world' award.
well, i really hate internet cafes, and computers in general at the moment. this is probably due to the fact that i sit in front of one ALL day.
Erin is having her baby right now. I'm just waiting for the call. I kept on thinking that my family forgot to call me or something, and it made me pretty royally upset. But it turns out that Atlas is just a huge punk, and enjoys Erin's belly a whole lot. I wish I was home so bad for this. It's sorta making me sick.
Ugh, I'm really sorry to disappoint. I'm just really not in the mood for blogging. And I apparently haven't been in weeks. srz.
Oh, and a special shout out to Dan. Good luck on the mission. We love you a lot, and wish you the best of luck. Haha. I feel like I'm writing in a card from a married couple or something. :) But yeah, seriously. We are really really going to miss you.
Sigh. Until next time...

'lil guy big guy
Hello everyone. Yes, I haven't blogged forever, and no, I'm not dead. I just thought we should put that out there once and for all. Quite honestly, I'm not sure what Court has written since my last post, and I'm too lazy to read it at the moment, so sorry to all you avid GTFG readers, but there might be some repeats.
Okay, ready?
Last I wrote, I believe I was 'illin. So I'll start from there.
So yeah. I was sick, and Court was at work, so we pretty much had a 'rockin weekend. I had to turn down the Wales adventure, and a couple other invites from new friends. That's right folks, when it come to Great Britain, I am freaking popular. GTFG Court on the other hand... has friends at work... (only joking Court, you should just get an office hour job). (I like blogs cause I can tell Courtney things without telling her things).
Speaking of work. Courgnaw IS, actually looking for a new job so that we can do things during the night together. She had two temp. interviews today before her shift started, so cross your fingers! But I'll talk about work in a bit. I want to finish with the activities we've done. hem hem.
So after a weekend of being full of meds and trying to sleep through the farewell parties being thrown in my flat, came Groundhog's Day. Oh, and loads of snow. More snow than has graced London in 18 years, in fact. (About 6 inches). And the ENTIRE city shut down. It was my very first snow day. All offices and stores were closed, which left hundreds of Londoners throwing snowballs playfully at everyone who passed. Seriously, it was wonderful. People of all ages were building snowmen and snow sculptures everywhere you looked, and having snowball fights with strangers is absolutely acceptable here. It was so great. It was also Groundhogs Day, so in celebration, I sculpted a hog on the ground out of snow. And later that night we watched 'Groundhog's Day,' while enjoying celery and carrots. (Because we figured that groundhogs probably enjoy those things)
It was also Chinese New Year that weekend, which I celebrated with my flat-mates at the Chinatown festival, where there were dancing dragons and perhaps thousands of Chinese lanterns. So, that was fun. But awfully crowded.
Lets see here... Last weekend we rode the London Eye to celebrate Friday the 13th. And then we went on the Jack the Ripper Tour to celebrate Valentine's Day. As our friend Amber said and laughed a little too hard at, it was our 'jack' valentine's day. We also ate pizza at Charles Dickens old abode. heh. Oh, what a shame.
Hmm.. What else? Oh. Court and I both had our first dates in London. It took us four weeks, but we did it. haha. i'm sure she's written about that though.
we've also had lots more sleepovers, breakfast making, and city-strolls. OH! and speaking of city-strolls, two weekends ago, KoRtni, James, and I were walking along the road when the London Dungeon, (some sort of freaky theme park that KoRt and I sort of wanted to go to but decided it was a rip-off) had an employee calling out for dancers. They had a little stage of sorts set up, and I wanted to do it, so KoRt joined me, and we did a dance for everyone to see. There were video cameras galore, and about five minutes later, we found ourselves to be the newest owners of free tickets. :) I think we're finally going to use them this weekend. But I think that's a great story.
Together, GTFG now have 6 phones. I don't want to go into detail. It's just sorta funny.
We also both had our NI Number interviews in what I'd like to call, Little India, and we both recieved callings in the ward. I'm on the FHE committee, and KoRt is on the activities committee. I'm really pretty excited about it. Another funny thing is that they gave us our callings at the same time. It's funny because the entire world views us as one entity. (Even though we've been doing different things with different people most nights.)
Kylin moved, and we miss him. It was like having a sibling move out all over again. I miss hanging out with him, he was really great. Our new flat-mate is pretty great too, but she doesn't want to hang out because I'm a youngling. And she isn't.
Another funny thing to note real quick is the fact that the Gergin (sp?) has replaced the North Star. The Gergin is a building shaped like a pickle, or a Gergin, and it's how KoRtni and I locate ourselves. I think that's pretty giggle-worthy.
So, as for work...
I'm completely satisfied with everything at the moment. NCP has asked me to stay until I leave, if not longer. The ward wants us to stay longer as well, but our lease, our summer job, and our Visas are telling us otherwise. Anyways, besides being boring and far away, I'm really very comfortable and lucky to be working where I'm working. Courtney loves her job sometimes, but as previously mentioned, she's looking for a new one so that we can take advantage of our time in London more. I hope she's successful. Anyways, I really love my 'colleagues.' They invite me to run with them, and go to lunch with them, and bowling. They offer me treats and say hilarious things. They also think I'm the strangest, most pious religious creature ever. 'What else CAN'T you do?!' was the question being exclaimed after refusing the lottery tickets, and the gallons of coffee. GTFG hate that question. We don't feel restricted at all. The things we get asked are pretty bizarre sometimes.
We made a friend named, Mafa. I'm positive I spelled that wrong. Oh well. Mafa stands on the side of a tunnel holding tiny little paintings, and keeping a straight face. He's homeless, and we bring him treats to which his entire face brightens. It took me a while to realize that he actually is homeless, and it makes me really very sad. I don't quite know how I feel about him. urm. I have an issue with thinking that all beggars are just trying to steal people's money. I wonder when I developed that view. I don't like it.
So, here's a couple lessons to learn real quick.... Don't be obedient when BUNAC tells you not to bring your laptop, and if you have a Type-A personality, you will never not have a list of things to do, even when you're taking a semester off of college in a different country.
Okay, well, I think I very briefly touched on everything worth mentioning. Now it's time for lunch. Sorry for being a really really bad friend accross the pond.

Good Time Funny.... Boyfriend?!
Hey there Good Time Funny Readers, this is Courtney, back by popular demand. And no, we don't have a boyfriend. I'm JP, duhz. We do have hot double dates this weekend, though. We also had separate hot dates last week. Neither of them turned out to be our ECs, though, which totally suxxorz. Hers smokes and mine was just 2 suave 2b 4gotten. You know?
Mark wrote me a letter and mailed it to my parents because I've been so negligent and have failed to have written him once at all since I left. That makes me feel pretty sucky. I don't know why I'm telling you that, though. Things are good on that front. I go on dates and have a good time and I don't just wander around life crying all the time, so that's good. The bad news is that, now that I'm no longer clinging to him for dear life, I'm a lazy letter friend. Srz. Yeah. Anyways.
My work is good. Things are pretty crazy because nobody knows what they're doing and people freak out some, but it's cool. I also kinda hate working at night, so I've toyed with the idea of finding a boring temp job, but I'm pretty sure The Commander would cease to exist without me. I'm pretty sure that there will be pictures of me cleaning glasses on the website once it's up, so that's cool.
Drew's shipping my laptop to me soon, so we'll be in contact more and I'll be able to upload all of our pictures, which will be 2 gr8! Then maybe you guys can finally quit your moaning about pictures. "Ooh, Courtney, we care about you and want proof that you still exist! Wehhhh!" Man, you guys are so unhip.
Sorry this blog is no good. I need to hurry and go to FHE, though. It starts in 40 minutes and I'm in West London (I just got off work) and I need to go back to East London to change out of my work pants and then back to West London again to go to the church house. Needless to say, I'm gonna be late.
We've made real friends! Ones we hang out with who think we're cute and funny and great! They're all girls, mostly. We finally socialize and give advice about boys and stuff. It's heaven. But yeah, I've got to go. I love you all! We're happy and still alive! Megan's still laying eggs, which pisses me straight off! Life is 2 gr8! Ttyl!

Thursday 29 January 2009
we eat lots of peanut butter.
seriously, we've been through three and a half jars of it since we've been here. and it's only been a month. a literal month. that's right ladies and gents, it was one month ago today that we left AmUrKa. so, happy one month anniversary to us! lets see how we should spend it... hmm... oh i know, i'll get sick, and court can go to work! heh. i need to slow myself down a bit here. lets begin again...
the food is SO much better here. it's so much more flavorful, and it's a lot healthier for you. well, there's a lot more that's healthy for you. even things such as flapjacks, (their cookies. basically) are like 60 percent oats. the point of me saying all of this is that gtfg thinks that the peanut butter here rocks socks. it's not sweet, it's just mashed peanuts, and it has a wonderful texture. it's funny though, because FHE this week was a smoothie night, and there was this peanut butter and chocolate smoothie that was absolutely divine. so you know, gtfg were drinking it all, when a fellow american explained to us that london peanut butter is the worst thing ever, and gtfg BEGGED to disagree. so she asked what kind we buy, and we told her waitrose brand. and then she said 'oh no wonder. that's where the queen shops.' haha. apparently everything with this little crown symbol on the packaging means that the queen purchases that particular item. i thought that was pretty hilarious that they mark that. but, sadly enough, it's pretty true. gtfg court picked up yet another jar of peanut butter last night from this store called tesco, and it's just not very good. it's still good, just not... THAT good. so... peanut butter. deeeelish!
i think i'm getting sick. i mean... i know i am. and i'm pretty disappointed about it, because i was going to head over to wales this weekend with my best friend joff and some girl i don't know. i am also supposed to be at institute tonight, and at our new friend's house afterwards. their names are ashley and amber. they are from arizona, and they are super cute. they just got here last week, and they are searching for jobs until may as well. one was a nanny, and one worked at urban outfitters. they are kinda a hipper version of us. i made a friend at work too. his name is ryan, and he sorta looks like my brother ryan.
umm, i think NCP thinks i'm so fantastic, that they want me to stay and work for them. there's a problem with that called, i'm not sure if i want to. it takes me an hour to get there everyday, because it's on the outskirts of london in a place called east croydon. i get to take the train everyday and see really awesome graffiti, which is neat. but i've seen it for two weeks now, and i tend to take things for granted pretty rapidly. i also get to cross tower bridge everyday. oh, by the way, i think gtfg are officially locals. we even get incredibly annoyed by tourists. seriously, trying to cross that bridge is quite the task. especially since i walk on it during rush hour. it will never stop being breath-taking though. we're also fully capable of giving people accurate directions.
we've discovered something else breath-taking as well. it's called the thames river paths, which are just across the street. i really love this city. there are so many things to look at. i sure wish gtfg qt was home at night, because we have lists and lists of things we want to do.
lets see here... our flat-mate kiling is moving out next week. i'm pretty sad about that. he likes to listen to my ipod and talk about hip hop. and let me borrow his lap top. :) he works in a recording studio, and he wrote a song last night. i love being home.
oh, but more about my job. court's manager said that i could be a hostess at the restaurant, but i'd be making much less than i am now. is it worth it though? it would be a lot more laid back, but i'm not in school or anything right now. i don't know. thoughts anyone? i could also just keep doing this accounting thing until i get another temp job. i'd really like to just go to different offices each week, but the problem with that is what if they can't find me a job for a few weeks? sigh. the job i'm at right now isn't so bad i suppose. it's just far away and boring and stressful.
oh, so that samuel kid that asked court on a date, found me a date as well. it's a blind pity date. the premises of samuel asking court is that a group of his friends wanted to go on a group date with girls they only just met, or haven't met. yeah right. that was just his excuse to ask court. but the thing is, is that court didn't really want to go, so she responded by saying that if any of his friends didn't have a date, that she knew someone who none of them knew... that's right, yours truly. so that's that. the actual date isn't for a couple weeks, and it's a good thing to, since we have SO much to do. so i hope it's fun... otherwise i'm going to wash all of courts clothes in scalding water until they blend into colorless grays. and i'll love every second of it.
bleh. i be illin. illin.
anything else significant? i don't believe so.
thanks for all of your emails everyone. they honestly make me very happy. i'm sorry this post is so lame. i wish i had more exciting things to say. i will soon, i'm sure. or at least i hope. but being a tourist gets old, and having a home is an awesome thing. so, until next time...

the food is SO much better here. it's so much more flavorful, and it's a lot healthier for you. well, there's a lot more that's healthy for you. even things such as flapjacks, (their cookies. basically) are like 60 percent oats. the point of me saying all of this is that gtfg thinks that the peanut butter here rocks socks. it's not sweet, it's just mashed peanuts, and it has a wonderful texture. it's funny though, because FHE this week was a smoothie night, and there was this peanut butter and chocolate smoothie that was absolutely divine. so you know, gtfg were drinking it all, when a fellow american explained to us that london peanut butter is the worst thing ever, and gtfg BEGGED to disagree. so she asked what kind we buy, and we told her waitrose brand. and then she said 'oh no wonder. that's where the queen shops.' haha. apparently everything with this little crown symbol on the packaging means that the queen purchases that particular item. i thought that was pretty hilarious that they mark that. but, sadly enough, it's pretty true. gtfg court picked up yet another jar of peanut butter last night from this store called tesco, and it's just not very good. it's still good, just not... THAT good. so... peanut butter. deeeelish!
